Halappanavars' baby due on same weekend Praveen received Savita report

The husband of the late Savita Halappanavar is expected to make a personal statement on his reaction to the draft HSE report into her death.

Praveen Halappanavar reviewed the 108-page draft document over the weekend and has indicated through his solicitor that he is not satisfied with its findings.

His solicitor Gerard O'Donnell said the complex report outlined a chronological sequence of events, but said it had no element of accountability.

He said an expert is to assist them in the review of the report and a submission is then likely to be made, as well as a meeting with the investigation chairman.

Speaking to Galway Bay fm, Mr O'Donnell said the meeting would happen as soon as possible after what has been a very difficult weekend for his client.

"Praveen has indicated he might try to make a personal statement…It was a very upsetting weekend for him," he said.

"This was the weekend he should have been celebrating the birth of his daughter. Instead this was the weekend he got the report into her death and into Savita's death, so it was very upsetting for him, but he has indicated he will try to set our a personal statement (of) his own reaction (to the report)."
