Ground breaking ceremony for new Meath Facebook centre to take place today

The ground breaking ceremony for the new Facebook Data Centre will take place this morning in Clonee County Meath.

The 220 acre site will be home to Facebook's second European Data Centre - more than 600 people will be employed during construction and there will be over 100 jobs in the data centre when it opens.

Brian Fitzgerald, Chairman of Meath County Council, will attend the ceremony and explains what it means for Meath: “We are obviously delighted that a company like Facebook has chosen Meath.

“It is a huge boost to our drive to attract investment to Meath.

“We haven’t been too successful down through the years so let’s hope that it is going to lead to others.”
