Green Party calls for new home-focused economic model

The leader of the Green Party, Eamon Ryan, called for "a new vision" in how we rebuild the Irish economy and society today.

Speaking at the party's national convention in Dublin earlier, Eamon Ryan said there should be a greater focus on "going green" in developing an efficient economy and developing small business.

"Where do we go from here? We think part of that should be going green - in terms of really efficient economy that relies not just on big foreign direct investment, but also using our natural resources well and promoting small business here at home."

"[It's] a disparate economic model, getting away from the boom and bust economics of the last 35 years."

Eamon Ryan told delegates that the party will be running candidates in the upcoming European elections in all constituencies.
