GRA fail to reach agreement on new pay deal

The Garda Representative Association's Central Executive Committee will meet again on Wednesday to consider a new pay deal.

The Committee met for several hours today but failed to reach an agreement on whether to accept the proposal from the Department of Justice.

Rent allowance and pay increments would be restored under the deal, which is the result of months of negotiations.

President of the GRA, Ciaran O'Neill, says so far there has been no decision on whether it's sufficient to avoid industrial action: "We have a proposal, it’s from the department, we also have a ballot in respect of industrial action. That decision will be out tomorrow so those two items will be discussed at the delegate conference."
