Government streamlines application process for housing projects over a certain size
The Government has announced new fast-track funding to build social housing.
They have streamlined the application process, meaning projects worth up to €2m, or 15 new housing units, can be approved in just one step.
The Department of the Environment claims the new system strikes the balance between oversight of public spending and maximum efficiency.
Homeless campaigners say 5,000 new homes a year need to be built to meet the current social housing demand.
