There has been a 37% fall in the number of ghost estates over the last two years, according to a Government report.

The Department of the Environment's National Housing Development Survey shows that there are now 1,770 unfinished developments around the country - down from 2,874 in 2010.

The number of vacant units has dropped by 27% from 23,250 properties to 16,881.

Some 1,100 of the ghost sites are in "a seriously problematic condition".
