The Government is today rejecting Opposition claims of lax security at Dublin Airport after an explosive substance was carried into Ireland on a plane from Slovakia.

The explosive was brought into the country in the luggage of an unsuspecting passenger

having been placed there by Slovakian police as part of a security test.

Fine Gael says the incident raises questions about lax security at Dublin Airport - but the Department of Justice says international practice is to perform all security checks at the point of departure and not on arrival.
