Gorey Dunnes Stores to re-open tomorrow

Dunnes Stores in Gorey County Wexford is to re-open to the public tomorrow.

Dunnes Stores workers are to march on the company's head office next month.

A two month stay was placed on a High Court injunction, which had led to the closure.

The Mandate trade union has welcomed the news, but criticised Dunnes Stores management for using the workers as bargaining chips in a dispute.

General Secretary of Mandate John Douglas has said that it is unacceptable.

"The staff are extremely concerned, as is the trade union Mandate, about the manner in which the staff have been treated," said Mr Douglas.

"They have been used as chips in a high-stake poker game between these two parties. And it is just unbelievable that in 2015 the staff could be kept in the dark and used as pawns in some sort of a power game."
