Gardaí to consider industrial action if hit with pay freeze
Rank and file gardaí have said they may consider industrial action if they are hit with a pay freeze.
Over 62% of members of the Garda Representative Association are facing the move, as the organisation has not signed up to the Lansdowne Road agreement.
They have held a protest outside the Dáil, calling for the Government to honour the terms of the Haddington Road Agreement, which expires today.
The GRA represents 10,000 gardaí.
The Association's Colin Moran says industrial action may be their last resort: “There’s an appetite for members to say enough is enough.
“Any decision taken will be taken for our members, on behalf of our members.
“These things have to be talked about and decisions have to be made amongst the CEC, but without doubt there will be consequences.”
