An intruder has been shot by a property owner during a burglary in Co. Longford.
Gardaí said the man discharged a shot when he discovered three men on his property in Kilmoyle at around 6.30am this morning.
The man who was shot is in his twenties and his condition is not believed to be life threatening.
The property owner in Kilmoyle came across the men who were intruding on his land and discharged a shot from a firearm, injuring one of them.
A second man fled the scene on foot and was arrested a short distance away by Gardaí, while a third man stole a van full of work tools.
He used the van to make his getaway, but was intercepted by Gardaí on the N4.
The man who was shot during the incident is being treated for non life-threatening injuries at Mullingar Regional Hospital.
The other two men, who are aged in their 20s, are being questioned at Longford Garda Station.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Kilmoyle area between 4.30am and 7.30am this morning to contact them.
