Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a foetus in a bin in a housing estate in Dublin last night.

Gardaí are investigating the discovery of a foetus in a bin in a housing estate in Dublin last night.

At around 9pm, a resident at Greenfort Close in Clondalkin found remains in a bag inside a rubbish bin in a front garden.

Gardaí were notified and the foetus has been taken to the city morgue where a post mortem will be carried out today.

The pathologist will establish whether the remains are human before any further inquiries are undertaken.
