Gardaí have appealed for help in finding a man who attacked and punched a woman on a Dublin bus.

Gardaí have appealed for help in finding a man who attacked and punched a woman on a Dublin bus.

The victim was travelling on the number 40 bus near old Kilmainham Village at approximately 10.15pm on Wednesday when she was struck a number of times by the unidentified assailant.

The injured woman spent the night in hospital and her friend suffered a bruised eye after he intervened.

Gardaí are appealing to the 18 other passengers on board the bus to come forward and are examining CCTV footage.
