Gardaí detain four after seizing machine gun in Dublin

Four people aged in their twenties and thirties remain in Garda custody this morning after a loaded gun was seized in west Dublin.

Four people aged in their twenties and thirties remain in Garda custody this morning after a loaded gun was seized in west Dublin.

The arrests were made by detectives investigating criminal activity in the area.

Gardaí from the Special Detective Unit based at Harcourt Square in Dublin arrested three men and a woman after a loaded machine gun was recovered during a house search in Clondalkin yesterday.

The men - two in their 30s and one in his 20s - and a woman in her 30s, were detained at the scene.

They are all being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act in Clondalkin, Shankill and Blackrock Garda stations.

They can be detained for up to three days.
