Gardaí 'concerned for welfare' of mother three months after baby's body found at recycling plant
Gardaí have renewed their appeal for the mother of a new born baby girl found three months ago in a recycling facility in Bray, Co. Wicklow, to contact them.
A worker at the Greenstar waste plant outside Bray, Co Wicklow, came across what he thought was a doll while sorting rubbish on the morning of May 4, 2016.
On closer inspection he realised it was the remains of an unclothed baby.
Superintendent Pat Ward, who is in charge of the investigation, said three months have passed since the discovery of her body and he is concerned for the welfare of the baby's mother.
Superintendent Ward said: "Three months have passed since the discovery of baby Alannah. I am concerned for the welfare of baby Alannah’s mum. She is most likely in an anxious state of mind and in need of medical assistance.
"I appeal to mum to immediately seek medical treatment. Myself or Sergeant Sorcha Fitzpatrick are available at Bray Garda Station to provide assistance to mum and dad. We will handle any contact discreetly and sensitively."
He also appealed to anyone who may have any information, however small, to contact the gardaí at Bray Garda Station on 01- 6665300, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
