Gardaí carry out technical examination following fatal stabbing

A 29-year-old died in the incident, which happened in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí were alerted to the scene at an apartment in Summerhill in Nenagh by a call to their control centre at around 3.20am this morning.

When officers arrived there they found the man, who had sustained serious injuries, being treated by ambulance personnel.

Despite their efforts, the man died at the scene.

A post mortem is expected to be carried out on his body at the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick later today.

The State Pathologist has been notified and a technical examination of the scene is underway.

No arrests have been made and gardaí say they are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the death.
