Up to 50 gardaí were involved in this morning's operation including armed detectives from Roxburgh Road, Henry Street and Mayorstone stations.

The local Drugs Squad and National Bureau of Criminal Investigation were also involved.

Three women and a male teenager have been arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of Noel Crawford, who was killed last December, and the alleged abduction of a woman in O'Malley Park just hours before the murder.

In another significant development, quantities of cocaine, cannabis and ammunition were discovered in Garryowen graveyard in planned armed Garda searches.
