Garda corruption needs to be investigated - Flanagan

Independent TD Luke "Ming" Flanagan is calling for accountability within An Garda Siochana.

The Roscommon -South Leitrim deputy will join protesters from the group "Justice for all" as they stage a demonstration outside Henry Street Garda station in Limerick at midday.

Fellow Independent's Mick Wallace, Joan Collins and Clare Daly will also be in attendance.

Deputy Flanagan is alleging Garda misconduct is becoming a growing issue due to a lack of transparency within the system.

"We started to get more and more calls on garda corruption- people ring us telling us [about] harassment they're getting.

"So far, we have handed in 22 files to the Department of Justice, and we're hoping that department lives up to its name," he said.
