Frost creates hazardous conditions on roads

AA Roadwatch is appealing to motorists to take care on the roads today and this week, as icy conditions have made driving conditions hazardous.

Temperatures dipped to as low as minus four degrees last night and Met Eireann has said severe frost is expected to continue this week with icy stretches and some freezing fog patches across the country.

Sinead Tyrell of AA Roadwatch has this advice for drivers: "In these type of driving conditions, it is essential that motorists are not complacent and speed is the greatest hazard on icy roads.

The advice from the AA is to slow down, leave more time for your journey and keep a safe distance from other vehicles."
