Focus Ireland says homelessness increased 7% in 2012

Homelessness has increased by seven percent according to Focus Ireland, which helped more than 8,000 people who were homeless or at risk of becoming homeless in 2012.

In its latest annual report, the charity said it settled 379 homeless households back into accommodation last year, including 112 children.

The latest figures come despite the government's aim of ending long-term homelessness by 2016.
