Emergency services are battling a fire at the old Erin Foods Factory in Carlow.

Firefighters battle blaze at disused factory with asbestos roof

Emergency services are battling a fire at the old Erin Foods Factory in Carlow.

Locals in the area have been warned by gardaí to stay indoors and close all doors and windows because the factory has an asbestos roof.

The blaze is believed to have broken out at around 4.30pm.

The road is currently closed to traffic while units from Carlow and Bagenalstown fire service attend the scene.
