Fine Gael TD Sean Conlan has been released without charge this afternoon, after he was arrested in connection with an alleged assault at a Co Monaghan pub.
The Cavan-Monaghan TD went to Castleblayney Garda Station by appointment this morning and made a statement.
He was released without charge this afternoon and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
It is understood a number of witnesses to the incident have been interviewed by officers in the past week.
No other arrests have been made over the incident, which happened at the pub in Ballybay on August 23.
