Ex-IRA man to sue Boston College

A former IRA prisoner is suing Boston College for handing over parts of his "Belfast Project" interviews to the PSNI.

The American university has been the subject of a legal battle over the tapes in recent months, which were conducted on the basis they would only be released after their subjects' deaths.

The PSNI have secured access to a number of the tapes which relate to the murder of Jean McConville over 40 years ago a move which has led to the arrests of a number of people in connection with the killing.

Former Republican Richard O'Rawe is accusing Boston College of breaching his confidentiality by releasing his interviews, which he says made no mention of the McConville murder.

Mr O'Rawe says the college never warned him this could happen and says it has caused him to suffer intimidation and distress.
