A new EU project aims to reduce waiting times for air passengers by an hour.

The PASSME project aims to use a combination of improvements to reduce travel time, including a smartphone app that gives you real-time information about your journey.

The scheme is being trialled at Hamburg Airport in Germany and Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands.

Orlaith McCarthy, the Dissemination and Exploitation Manager for the project, said there are a number of ways they plan to reduce journey times.

"The project will focus on … creating faster luggage drop-off and collection systems, reducing queues at key points … the creation of smart boarding systems [and] providing passengers with continuous access to timely information."
