A plane has made an emergency landing at Dublin Airport this morning.

The US-bound Ethiopian Boeing 787 Dreamliner took off from Dublin at 6.10am en route to Washington.

About an hour and a half into the flight, flight ET500 reported that one of its engines had shut down and it was forced to return to Dublin.

It landed safely just after 8.30am. It is understood around 300 people were on board.

Emergency services were on standby as a precaution.
