A man in his late 60s has been killed in a road crash in Co Kerry.

A man in his late 60s has been killed in a road crash in Co Kerry.

The victim was cycling on the Tralee to Killarney road when he was hit by a minibus.

At around 9.45pm night, the man was cycling a bike at Kilcummin Cross on the Tralee to Killarney road when he was struck by a minibus.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Tralee General Hospital.

The driver and sole occupant of the minibus was uninjured.

The main Tralee to Killarney road is currently closed in both directions at Kilcummin Cross as gardaí carry out a technical examination of the scene. Diversions are in place.

Gardaí in Kilarney are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them on 064 663 1222.
