According to newspaper reports this morning, it includes a proposal for members of the force to work an extra hour per shift and other changes to public holiday pay and Sunday premium allowances.

The government wants to slash the garda payroll by one billion euro.

The reports emerge a day after 95 garda stations closed around the country.
