A Dublin woman, who is charged with assisting in the suicide of another woman, is to go on trial in April of next year.

A Dublin woman, who is charged with assisting in the suicide of another woman, is to go on trial in April of next year.

Gail O'Rourke, from Kilclare Gardens in Tallaght, is charged with aiding, abetting, counseling or procuring the suicide of Bernadette Forde between March 10 and June 6 2011.

The 42-year-old is the first person in the State to be prosecuted under Section 2 of the Criminal Law Act 1993.

Judge Mary Ellen Ring has set a date of April 13 for the trial, which is expected to last for two to three weeks.
