Dublin star Jonny Cooper makes statement after knife attack
Dublin GAA star Jonny Cooper has released a statement ten days after he was attacked with a knife in the capital.
The 24-year-old tweeted a link to a statement thanking those who helped him on the night he was attacked.
He also says the support he received over the past week has been incredibly humbling.
"To all the professional personnel that helped and took care of me on the night and since the event - I thank you. I will never forget you for it.
!Dublin is a great place; it is a safe place and it is my home. If nothing else, this can be a lesson that when you're out, stay safe and stick together."
He sustained serious injuries to his face and upper body in what Gardaí say was a random, unprovoked attacked on Dorset Street.
A 31-year-old man has been questioned in connection with the incident.
He was released last night and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
