Dublin man jailed after fatal stabbing

A homeless Dubliner who stabbed a 23-year-old to death has today been jailed for nine years.

Thomas Kinsella (aged 34) of Orchid House on James's Street killed John Murdoch at Cushlawn Way in Tallaght on August 27, 2011.

The Central Criminal Court heard the accused produced a knife when a group of youths started verbally abusing him and his friends, calling them junkies and scumbags.

He was cleared of murder by a jury who found he had acted in self defence but had used excessive force.
