Department of Justice staff to meet protesting asylum seekers

Representatives from the Department of Justice are in Cork today, to meet with residents of the Kinsale Road Direct Provision centre.

Residents are in their fifth day of protesting against conditions at the centre, with complaints of poor food and a lack of access to work and education.

Officials from the Government's Reception and Integration Agency are expected to meet with residents in Cork today to hear their concerns.

A protest has also been mounted at Ashbourne House in Glounthaune, urging the Department of Justice to proceed with residents' citizenship applications.

Speaking to RedFM News, people at the Kinsale Road Accommodation Centre said they are fed up with their situation.

"I'm just tired of the whole thing," said one woman. "Sometimes I just think about it and I feel like I'm going mad."
