A cyclist in his 50s is critically ill in hospital after he was in collision with a pedestrian in the Phoneix park yesterday.

A cyclist in his 50s is critically ill in hospital after he was in collision with a pedestrian in the Phoneix park yesterday.

The cyclist was cycling on the cycle lane on the upper part of Chesterfield Ave (the city-bound side between the Áras and Castleknock gate) when the collision happened at about 8.40pm yesterday.

The male cyclist was taken to Beaumont Hospital where he is described as being in a critical condition.

The male pedestrian, who is in his 30s, was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital with leg and back injuries.

Gardaí in Cabra have appealed for witnesses to contact Cabra garda station on 01 6667400, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
