Court grants Quinn family more time to disclose assets

Bankrupt businessman Sean Quinn and his children have been given more time to disclose details of their international property assets to IBRC.

The High Court granted the extension having heard the Quinns are in breach of court orders issued at the end of July.

Sean Quinn and his family were to complete the disclosure process by August 13.

The High Court has varied two court orders by granting them an extension until next Friday.

The Quinn's lawyers informed the court that as part of the disclosure process, in excess of 20,000 documents held by their lawyers Eversheds have to be reviewed.

IBRC's lawyers formerly objected to the extension and told the court while they were amenable to a phased approach to discovery they were not amenable to breaches of the court's orders.

During the application, it emerged that the Quinns may have to bring another application as the discovery orders cover files that will not be available by next week, as they are in the hands of their Cypriot and Swedish lawyers.
