Commission of Investigation finishes report into alleged Garda malpractice

The Commission of Investigation into alleged Garda malpractice in Cavan-Monaghan has finished its final report.

The Department of Justice has this evening confirmed it has received the final report of the commission led by Justice Kevin O'Higgins.

The inquiry was set up after the Guerin Report into ten different allegations of Garda malpractice, after claims by whistleblower Sergeant Maurice McCabe.

In a statement, Acting Justice Minister Frances Fitzgerald said she would publish the report as soon as it had been cleared by the Attorney General.

"I wish to express my gratitude to Mr Justice Kevin O’Higgins and his team for the promptness with which the Commission concluded its challenging work," she added.
