The Coast Guard located a missing jet-skier and brought him back to Howth after his jet ski overturned off Dublin's Ireland's Eye yesterday.
The Coast Guard Helicopter and Howth RNLI lifeboats all responded, following an alert at around 3.30pm.
As the rescue operation was ending, crews noticed that members of the public were in danger from waves breaking on the East Pier in Howth.
They assisted one person to safety before taking up a position on the pier until the high tide receded.
Gerard O'Flynn, Operations Manager with the Irish Coast Guard says it is that time of year when we need to exercise a little care when walking along coastal routes: "With failing daylight at this time of the year, things can changed very quickly on the coastline and people can get into dangerous situations at very short notice.
"So it is very important that with fading daylight, people do stay back, stay high and stay dry."
