The Irish Coast Guard rescued a kayaker off Howth in Dublin earlier.

The female kayaker was not wearing a lifejacket and was struggling to get back to shore.

She had not checked the weather which was unsuitable for the craft she was in.

A member of the public alerted the Coast Guard shortly before 11am and the woman was brought back to shore on a lifeboat.
