The prosecution and defense have been delivering their closing arguments in the trial into the murder of Irish student Nicola Furlong in Japan today.
Nineteen-year-old Richard Hinds from Memphis, Tennessee is accused of the murder of the exchange student from Co Wexford in a Tokyo hotel last September.
He has denied intentionally suffocating her and said her death has given him a "painful thorn".
He has broken down in court for the first time and told the court he feels deep remorse for Nicola's family.
Yesterday, Nicola's father Andrew said his "blood was boiling" as he listened to evidence in the trial.
The verdict in the trial is due next Tuesday.
