The cost of placing one child in a crèche in Ireland amounts to around three months of the average annual wage, a survey has claimed today.

The cost of placing one child in a crèche in Ireland amounts to around three months of the average annual wage, a survey has claimed today.

A nationwide survey from Newstalk 106-108fm showed that parents in Dublin and along the commuter belt pay the most for childcare.

The annual cost difference between the most and least expensive county was €4,368 per year.

Newstalk surveyed 130 crèches throughout the country and found that the average amount Irish parents pay for one child is €162 per week.
