The funeral of one of the so-called "disappeared" is to take place in Armagh today.

The body of Charlie Armstrong was identified this week, after being found in Co Monaghan six weeks ago.

The 57-year-old went missing on his way to Mass in 1981. His family believe he was abducted and killed by the IRA for resisting a bid to hijack his car.

He will be laid to rest today following funeral Mass at St Patrick's Church in Crossmaglenn.

Mr Armstrong's son Terry said: "It will be the finish of a long time of heartache and not knowing…Thank God, we'll have (in his grave), a place to go."
