It has been confirmed that two brothers will compete against each other in the General Election in the same constituency, for two different parties.

It has been confirmed that two brothers will compete against each other in the General Election in the same constituency, for two different parties.

Fine Gael's Fergus O'Dowd has already been selected to fight the election and retain his seat in Louth.

But this morning it has been confirmed that his brother Michael, a former mayor of Drogheda, will be running for Renua Ireland.

Another brother Niall, a journalist based in New York, considered running as an independent candidate for President four years ago.
