Ban on production of old light bulbs begins

The plug is being pulled on old-fashioned light bulbs from today.

The plug is being pulled on old-fashioned light bulbs from today.

From this morning, a ban comes in to force on the production and importation of all frosted non-CFL bulbs, bulbs in the F and G classes, and clear light bulbs over 100 watts.

Under the EU-wide initiative, all incandescent light bulbs will eventually be phased out by 2012.
