AUDIO: Taoiseach jokes that Coalition could stay in power another two years
Taoiseach Enda Kenny today jokingly suggested the General Election may not take place until 2018.
The Fine Gael leader was remaining tight-lipped on continuing speculation that he will dissolve the Dáil later this month and hold an election in November.
Addressing the opening of a new European HQ for software company Workday in Dublin, which pledged 100 jobs over the next three years, Mr Kenny suggested there is the option of the Coalition staying in power for another two years would be constitutional.
"You have your three-year cycles, and we have our five-cycles. Actually, it's seven years in the Constitution, but convention says it's five, so…," he said, before laughing in response to audience laughter.
