The National Parks and Wildlife Service is appealing for information after unauthorised turf cutting on protected bogs in Meath and Westmeath.
The turf-cutting took place without permission from landowners in the Moneybeg, Clareisland and Ross bogs.
The bogs are special conservation areas.
A spokesperson for the Department of Arts and Heritage said it was now a matter for gardaí, who are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
