Aisling Brady McCarthy arrives back in Ireland after ticket delay
Aisling Brady McCarthy has said she is glad to be home as she arrived back into Shannon Airport this morning, accompanied by her sister.
The 37-year-old Cavan woman was released from custody in Boston earlier this week, after murder charges against her were dropped in relation to the death of a child in her care in 2013.
She was later detained by Immigration officials for outstaying a holiday visa in 2002.
She landed back in Shannon at 6.15am today on an Aer Lingus flight from Boston, and was surrounded by police as she came through arrivals.

At 6.40am the former nanny was given an escort by three airport police and an airport operations agent through the Arrivals Hall at Shannon to a waiting silver coloured 131 D registered VW Polo outside the airport terminal.
She told reporters she was glad to be home, and started crying as she left the airport. She did not respond to any other questions from the media.
A power failure had delayed her departure from the US, immigration officials said last night
Spokesman Shawn Neudauer said Ms Brady McCarthy had bought a plane ticket home, but a power cut was delaying processes:”If we can make the plane ticket happen for her we will but it’s just not guaranteed that we can do it today.
"The main issue is that the office has experienced power failure and that’s hampering their efforts right now."
However, the delays were overcome last night and Ms Brady McCarthy was able to board a flight home.
When asked this morning by reporters whether she was glad to be home, she simply and emphatically said: "Yes."

The 37-year-old was accused of murdering a baby girl in her care in Massachusetts in 2013.
One-year-old Rehma Sabir from Cambridge, Massachusetts, died in January 2013.
However, this week, a medical examiner ruled the one-year-old girl had died from undetermined injuries.
Ms Brady McCarthy was deported back to Ireland as soon as she was released from a four-month period house arrest, as she had been living in America illegally for 13 years.
She initially went to the US in 2002 on a six-month tourist visa but never returned home.
