Airport staff vote to strike around the country

Workers at the country's three main airports have voted to go on strike.

SIPTU members at the DAA are planning to walk off the job in a long-running row over pensions.

The action could affect flights at Dublin and Cork.

The results of a vote of SIPTU staff at Aer Lingus will be announced tomorrow.

SIPTU's Dermot O'Loughlin said an industrial action group will be set up on Wednesday, and the details, of industrial action will be chosen then – including when it will take place.

Management at Dublin and Cork airports are pleading with workers not to go on strike.

In a statement this evening the DAA said it's doing all it can to fix the company's pension scheme, and said industrial action is not the answer.
