Justice Minister Dermot Ahern has today admitted that a property tax and water charges are likely to be introduced.

The Government is trying to bridge the gap between €55bn in spending and €32bn of predicted income.

All Government Departments will have their budgets cut, with the heavy spenders, including Health, Education and Social Welfare likely to be hardest hit.
