Aer Lingus flights to New York cancelled over Hurricane Sandy
Aer Lingus has been forced to cancel all flights to and from New York tomorrow due to the severe weather warning from Hurricane Sandy.
The airline said customers affected can change their flights to another date online free of charge.
Elsewhere anyone who wants to cancel their travel plans will receive a full refund via www.aerlingus.com.
The cancelled flights are the EI-105 and EI-109 from Dublin to New York; EI-104 and EI-108 from New York to Dublin; the EI-111 from Shannon to New York and the EI-110 flight from New York to Shannon.
Hurricane Sandy is expected to slam into the east coast of America tomorrow, bringing torrential rains, high winds, severe flooding and power cuts.
An Aer Lingus spokesman apologised to all customers affected by the cancellations.
“We currently plan to operate all other services on Monday October 29 and will communicate with customers via SMS, our website and the broadcast media should this situation change,” he added.
Elsewhere trade unions at the airline will meet on Tuesday to decide what form of industrial action to take over the pensions row.
Dublin Airport said a number of transatlantic flights have been cancelled over the coming days as a result of the hurricane.
A spokeswoman said: “Passengers with plans to travel Stateside in the next two days are advised to contact their airline or airline’s website before travelling to Dublin Airport.”
