Fifty thousand baby lettuce plants have been stolen in Dublin.
They were in a truck which has been reported stolen from Rush, in the north of the county.
The van in which the baby lettuces were being transported is a white Mitsubishi Canter, registration 07 WW 4693.
The truck is missing from a yard in Lower Channel Road in Rush since around 6.20am yesterday.
Brian McNamara owns the truck and the missing plants. He said: "They are in a compost block in a yellow create. We buy them in from the UK, and only got them in on Wednesday."
If the lettuces are not planted by Tuesday, they will all die as they need water and sunlight to survive.
They would have been due to be planted out to glasshouses yesterday and today, and were intended for supply to supermarkets in about eights weeks' time.
