The results of the latest political opinion poll are in, showing further modest gains for Fine Gael.

This is the last indication of where public support lies before the ballot boxes open on Friday.

The poll, which was conducted for Paddy Power by Red C, shows little major shifts in voter sentiment.

Fine Gael are still in front, having gained again, but only by one point, bringing them up to 40%.

Labour will be unhappy that their gain is similarly small, they are also up by just one point to 18%, meaning they are less than half as popular as Fine Gael.

Fianna Fáil have dropped one point and are on 15%. Sinn Féin are also down, this time by two points to 10%.

Today's poll shows a one-point gain for the Greens, bringing them to 3%, with Independents remaining unchanged on 14%.
