Would you pay this much for a pint?

An image of a receipt from a Dublin pub has raised eyebrows online with speculation that it could be 'the most expensive pint in Dublin'.

The receipt, dated from eight minutes past midnight last night, shows a customer of The Temple Bar in Dublin 2 apparently having been charged €7.45 each for a pint of Heineken and Carslberg, and €5 for two packets of crisps.

The image has prompted criticism online.

"We could probably just about live with the price of the pint if it was late at night and we'd already had six or seven but the price of the crisps?" wrote Dublin-based food blog LovinDublin, which suggested that the pints purchased in the Temple Bar last night may be the most expensive in the city.

"Unfortunately this is one of the first places tourists will stop while in the city and this is a horrible price for them to be paying."

Twitter users were also aghast at the cost.

A representative from The Temple Bar, an award-winning pub and a popular haunt of visitors to the capital, could not be reached for comment.

It is regarded as common industry practice for late bars to increase their alchohol prices after a designated time of the night. The Temple Bar opens until 1.30am (Mon-Wed), 2.30am (Thur-Sat) and 1am (Sun).
