How to hold the ultimate Eurovision party in six easy steps

It’s almost here, the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest grand final.

What more reason to celebrate?

Time to take out every glittery item of clothing you’ve ever owned, all those cheesey CDs you’ve been hiding away and those dance moves you’ve been warned never to attempt again.

It’s Eurovision, anything goes!

Here’s your guide on how to hold the ultimate Eurovision bash.

Step 1: Place your bets

Rally the troops - via a social media group - and get each member to bid for a country.

A sweepstake if you will.

Step 2: Dress code

Each troop shall then pledge allegiance to their country by either dressing in their country’s colours or national dress.

If you believe they are dressed appropriately, award them with their country's song lyrics to complete their attire.

Each guest should sing along to their act during their performance, in the spirit of Eurovision.

Step 3: Decorate

Bunting, bunting and more bunting.

Flags, flags and more flags.

It’s not the Eurovision without a good flag.

Step 4: International theme

Any excuse to buy food from that international section you’ve always been afraid to approach.

French pastries, German meats, Italian pizzas - what’s not to like?

Step 5: Make a playlist

From Abba to Johnny Logan, the Eurovision has given us some of the catchiest tunes of all time.

So as your guests enter the party, why not remind them of this.

Here are some of our favourites:

That should get the party going!

Step 6: Built-in drinking game

It’s up to you and the party whether you take a sip or healthy gulp but either way, we urge you to drink responsibly.

To play a Eurovision drinking game you should drink when:

You switch from Marty’s RTÉ commentary to Graham Norton’s on BBC.

Fireworks explode on stage

Australia is mentioned - like “Good morning Australia”

A country gives 12 points to their neighbouring country

An act comes out in national dress

An act uses a wind machine.

Conchita appears

Vienna is mentioned

An act uses a smoke machine.

Your chosen country receives any points.

Johnny Logan is mentioned

Anyone mentions that it’s the 60th anniversary of the Eurovision.

And finally, when the winning song is played.

HAPPY EUROVISION!!
